books.hoksi-edu.com is operated by Hoksi Education Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong. Contact: licensing@hoksi-edu.com.
What you may do with the content
The textbook content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, the site and build system under MIT, and the Hoksi Education name, marks and logo under neither. The full terms, including how to credit the books and what the trademark conditions are, are in NOTICE.md. Nothing on this page narrows the rights those licences grant.
No warranty
The site and the books are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. They are not official examination material, and no guarantee is given that they are complete, error-free, up to date, or aligned with any current or future syllabus or examination. Hoksi Education Limited is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, the Education Bureau, or the Curriculum Development Council.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hoksi Education Limited is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, this site or the books, including examination results, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71).
Acceptable use
Copy, print, redistribute and adapt the books as the licence allows. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or the systems that serve it, and do not present a copy or an adaptation in a way that suggests it is an official edition. Every official edition is listed at books.hoksi-edu.com.
Changes and governing law
These terms may be updated; the version published here applies. They are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Hong Kong courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here affects the statutory rights of a consumer.
Privacy notice
What is not collected
There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no forms, no advertising, no analytics or measurement scripts, and no tracking cookies. Nothing you read or search for is recorded by us: the search index is downloaded to your browser and every query runs on your device.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes the technical data that any web request carries — IP address, user agent, the URL requested, and the time — to deliver pages and to protect the service against abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare as our service provider and is not used to build any profile of a reader.
Third-party requests
- Pages containing mathematics load MathJax from the jsDelivr CDN, which receives your IP address and user agent as part of that request. Fonts and every other script and stylesheet are served from this site.
- Links to GitHub, Creative Commons and other external sites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies. If you open an issue or a pull request on GitHub, your GitHub username and what you write are public and are held by GitHub.
Storage on your device
Your colour-theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage under
preferred-theme, and the sidebar and reader-mode settings on
book pages are kept the same way. These stay on your device, are never
sent to us, and are cleared when you clear your browser's site data.
Children
These books are written for secondary school students. The site is designed so that reading it requires no personal data at all, and none is knowingly collected from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) you may ask whether we hold personal data about you, request a copy, and ask for corrections. Because the site collects no personal data directly, such requests will normally be answered by confirming that we hold none. Write to privacy@hoksi-edu.com.
